Field Description
Medical Assistance (MA) Medicaid is health insurance that helps many people who can't afford medical care pay for some or all of their medical bills. Medicaid is available only to people with limited income. You must meet certain requirements in order to be eligible for Medicaid. Medicaid does not pay money to you; instead, it sends payments directly to your health care providers. Depending on your benefit plan, you may also be asked to pay a small part of the cost (co payment) for some medical services. TANF (AFDC) Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) is a government program that gives cash assistance to needy families with dependent children, and to pregnant women, to help them meet the basic needs of their children. This cash assistance can be used to help families with housing, utilities, and clothing costs. It is sometimes called "welfare." This program was previously known as AFDC (Aid for Families and Dependent Children) and is also referred to as K-TAP (Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program). Food Stamps (FS) Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) (Formerly Food Stamps) is a Food Benefit Program which helps people with little or no money buy food for healthy meals at participating stores. A household's SNAP benefits will be deposited into a SNAP benefit account each month. The household will receive an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card to be used for the purchase of food products. Child Care Assistance (CC) The Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) is a program which provides child care assistance for eligible children with a household income that does not exceed 150 per cent of the Federal Poverty Level. Assistance is also available for families, on a sliding scale, with a monthly household income about $900.00. SSI (Supplemental Security Income) Supplemental Security Income (SSI) provides monetary and medical benefits to adults and children who are blind or disabled and who have also met the non-disability income and resources requirements.
